Smart Snack Update

Dear Parents,

As we continue to enhance the student dining experience, we are working to increase our variety of a la carte items for the 2017-2018 school year. Using guidance from the USDA and Alliance for a Healthier Generation, we have found new and exciting products which meet all of the requirements of the NSLP Smart snack program. Each item is both nutritious and delicious, while hopefully appealing to our student population. Smart Snacks are available to students in grades 1-12.

Managing your child’s accounts in MyPayment Plus

Your child has 2 accounts. The “General” account is used for the purchases of ALL items Meals, Smart Snack Items, Second Meals, and Individual Meal components. The “Meal” Account is used only for the purchase of a complete meal as indicated by the USDA guidelines.

Below you will find a general outline of different account management styles:

Account Management Style
All funds in Meal Account
Student allowed to purchase only one full Meal per day.
Plan meals and other purchase over a period of time and fund each account accordingly.
Students will be able to purchase one full meal a day with a limited amount of other items*
All funds in General Account
Student has the flexibility to purchase meals and other items*

*Other items consist of any of the following: Second meal, Smart Snacks (including, but not limited to: Brand named Beverages, Premium Juices, Tropical Fruit Cups and Whole Grain cookies), and individual components such as Whole Apple, Milk Carton, Juice Cups .
