FSU Elementary News and Notes

Good morning fifth grade parent(s),

For the Disney field trip, if you are a current season pass holder, you are eligible for a discounted price. The price for pass holders is $159.00 per person instead of $199.00. We would need you to make sure you don't have a black-out date on December 11, 2015.

Also, you would have to submit your pass(es) to your child's teacher by Wednesday, 12/9/15 to ensure they are not forgotten on the day of the trip. If you've already paid the $199.00 price, you will get a $40 refund per ticket after the field trip. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please note this letter regarding the activity fee.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please note this newsletter.   Have a great weekend!

Dear Parents,

Two days a week we do a timed mathematical activity school-wide at 8:45am. We are now starting “Fact Friday" & "Acaletics Wednesday." These activities are 6 minutes long. We do not want the children missing these programs.  Please assist us by having your child punctually attend school in the morning.  The carline gets very backed up when a high volume of cars arrive in line at 8:35 a.m.

If possible, please assist us by trying to arrive a few minutes earlier so your child is present for the “Fact Friday" & "Acaletics Wednesday” activity. "Fact Friday" begins tomorrow (9/11/15.)

Please review the Pembroke Pines Charter uniform policy.

Uniform Policy

All students must be in uniform each day. Navy blue bottoms, appropriate uniform shirt as well as uniform sweater and/or jacket. Solid navy blue jacket/sweater may be used.

Please remember to put your child’s name on all sweaters, jackets and sweatshirts.

Dear Parents and Guardians

Please review these reminders:

1) Only students who are enrolled in the beforecare program should be dropped off in the front of the school.  In the morning, please use the car line or the designated walk-up area near the car line.

2) Students should put on seat belts before the car moves and should not take them off until the car stops in the car line area.

3) Please notify/email your child's teacher if your child is leaving early from school.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to remind you that all volunteer/service hours are due by May 27, 2016.  Each family in the Pembroke Pines Charter School system must complete 30 hours annually in order for their child(ren) to continue enrollment.

Please make sure to hand in your volunteer/service hour forms before the deadline!

Thank you.

Dear Parents,

I am writing to encourage you to take advantage of an important opportunity for you and your children in grades K - 3.  A five-session workshop series called Families That Care: Supporting School SuccessⓇ is being offered at our school. These interactive workshops will give you and your family the skills to work together and take action now to help your children do well in and enjoy school.

In these lively, interactive workshops, you will learn practical skills to help you improve communication, reduce misbehavior and help your children in grades K - 3 develop a positive attitude and love of learning. The workshops help parents partner with schools to address two of the critical factors - academic failure and early antisocial behavior - that put children at risk for later problems.  This program is based on solid research that has a proven track record of effectiveness.

The first workshop is taking place on Wednesday, September 2nd from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm.  All parents will be credited Volunteer hours for attending.

Hope to see you there!

Save the Dates for upcoming workshops:
Oct. 7th, Nov. 4th, Dec. 2nd, and Jan. TBA

6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Due to the impending Tropical Storm/Hurricane, we would like to review the procedures should we undergo a Tropical Storm or Hurricane in our area.  Please make note of the following information:

BEFORE AND AFTER the storm, The City of Pembroke Pines Charter Schools will follow the decision of the School Board of Broward County, Florida.  If they are open, we will be open.  If they are closed, we will be closed.  Please stay tuned to our local media for updates. Additionally you may check our website here for the latest news.  This section will be updated if it is operational.

It speeds things up if parents utilizing the car line display the names and grades of their children on the hanging car signs. The dismissal process goes much faster when drivers circle through the car line loading area as directed by staff a second time when the children are not outside in the loading area.  Please leave the name card up until the child is in the car.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
