April 8 & : 1st & 2nd grade SAT Broward County Test Administration schedule is as follows:

Dear 5th Grade Families,

Thank you.

Dear Parents,

Everyone has a favorite sports hero they relate to – maybe an individual or team performance at the current Winter Olympics or the recent Super Bowl, or perhaps the wonderful performance of the Miami Heat at last year’s NBA Championship. Yet the ones that we can relate to the most are the ones that are usually the most overlooked: the ones in our schools and classrooms. Teachers and non-instructional school staff can have a profound impact on how we view the world. They are, in fact, some of the most respected and trusted individuals in our community. However, with increasing challenges, such as growing classroom sizes and dramatic budget cuts, the already herculean task of teaching today’s students and working as support staff is increasingly more difficult and challenging. They truly are performing amazing feats every single day and aren’t getting the admiring fans they deserve.

Enter your teacher and non-instructional staff in Broward County Council of PTA/PTSA’s Annual Pat on the Back Recognition Award Ceremony & Dinner! This event is a way to show how much they are appreciated and remind everyone of how much our students look up to them, whether it is in the classroom or elsewhere on the school grounds.

Each of the events below benefit the Charter School Foundation.

Hours will be counted as part of your 30 hours and is critical to the success of this event.

- You must be able to volunteer the entire shift from start to finish.
- Only high school students will be able to attend with their parent and their volunteer hours will count only for their community service hours.

Pictured from left to right: Principal: Dr. Lisa Libidinsky, Champion: Stanley Pierre, Runner Up: Nandika Regatti, Vice Principal: Mr. Alan Pfau, and Spelling Bee Chair: Elizabeth Slaski
FSU supported Stanley Pierre while he competed against hundreds of first place local school winners at the Broward County competition on March 11, 2014 at Signature Grand in Davie. It was tough competition! Stanley made it to the finals and placed 6th out of all contestants. This was an amazing moment for Stanley's family and our school!! (picture on the left is Stanley Pierre wearing his finals t-shirt).

Congratulations to Stanley and all who participated!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are requesting donations of bags of red mulch. If you would like to donate this item, please contact the front office at 954-499-4244 to coordinate a time to deliver the bag(s) to our school. Thank you!

Thank you to ALL the families who joined us at the PTA Spaghetti Dinner & Bingo Family Night Fundraiser on Friday night. It was a wonderful success and lots of fun for the kids and adults alike.

A couple of quick follow-up notes
1. If your child got a glitter stamp they can be removed by gently rubbing baby oil or olive oil over the stamped area with your fingers until the glitter begins to come off.

2. The following raffle items were not claimed the night of the event. You can claim them any day this week at the front office. You must have your ticket to claim the prize. Any items not claimed from the office by Thursday, March 20th will be forfeited. Below is the list of items and raffle numbers. Again you must have the other half of the ticket with the number on it to claim the prize.

We would like to congratulate Nydia Castellano and Chad Spence for winning the contest for B and C buildings. We are planning the ice-cream party for both classes.

Dear Parent or Guardian:

Please note some reminders about our car line:

The turn lanes into Pembroke Shores Parking lot on SW172nd Ave:
Cars driving to the office, West/FSU shuttle bus stop, or the YMCA are encouraged to enter the parking lot using the YMCA entrance north of the YMCA. Drivers that are leaving the YMCA are requested to join the car line at the back of the line.

Drivers are asked to refrain from honking unless it is an emergency. Parents are asked to use the sidewalk and not walk through the car line. Children should remain seat-belted in their car until the child is ready to get out of the car.

In the am, please remember to use the car line "snaking system" even if it appears only a few cars are present. It only takes a few moments for many cars to arrive and cause unnecessary congestion on SW172nd when a few cars deviate from the traffic pattern skipping the 3 rows.

(Please adhere to the dedication deadlines as this part of the book must be uploaded within 3 days of the deadline and late dedications may not be accepted.)
