Dear Parent or Guardian:

Please note some reminders about our car line: The turn lanes into Pembroke Shores Parking lot on SW172nd Ave:

Cars driving to the office, West/FSU shuttle bus stop, or the YMCA are encouraged to enter the parking lot using the YMCA entrance north of the YMCA. Drivers that are leaving the YMCA are requested to join the car line at the back of the line.

Drivers are asked to refrain from honking unless it is an emergency. Parents are asked to use the sidewalk and not walk through the car line. Children should remain seat-belted in their car until the child is ready to get out of the car.

In the am, please remember to use the car line "snaking system" even if it appears only a few cars are present. It only takes a few moments for many cars to arrive and cause unnecessary congestion on SW172nd when a few cars deviate from the traffic pattern skipping the 3 rows.

Please remember that our car line is a“no cell phone zone.”

Dear Parents/Guardians:

All students received a folder with very important FIRST DAY DOCUMENTS on the first day of school. All of these documents must be filled out completely and signed and dated where indicated. These forms were all due on August 20, 2014. If you have not submitted the documents, please send them in as soon as possible.

DO YOU NEED PARENT VOLUNTEER SERVICE HOURS OR JUST WANT TO SUPPORT THE CHARTER SCHOOL THROUGH VOLUNTEER SERVICE? VOLUNTEER HOURS ARE AVAILABLE SATURDAY, AUGUST 23RD THROUGH SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2014

The Pembroke Pines Charter School PTSA has volunteer opportunities available at the West Pines Soccer Park & Nature Preserve Concession Stand. All campus volunteers are welcome! Sign-up today for evening hours on MONDAY through THURSDAY from 6:00pm to 8:30pm and Saturday from 8:30am to 2:30pm (shifts available: 8:30am to 12:30 noon and 11:30 am to 2:30pm) every day through November 15, 2014. You can sign-up directly online for all dates at the following link:

Please enter your first and last name, email and phone number in case of cancellations or rain outs. If you are on the schedule, you are confirmed. Please, only 5 volunteers are permitted on Mondays through Thursday and 5 for the morning shift and 5 for the afternoon shift on Saturdays.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

If you need to sign out your child before 2:30pm, please email the teacher so that your child can have all that they need to go home and be prepared for the next school day.
  

Two days a week we do a timed mathematical activity school-wide at 8:45am. We are now starting “Fact Friday" & "Acaletics Wednesday." These activities are 6 minutes long.

We do not want the children missing these programs. Please assist us by having your child punctually attend school in the morning.​ The carline gets very backed up when a high volume of cars arrive in line at 8:35 a.m.​ ​ If possible, please assist us by trying to arrive a few minutes earlier so your child is present for the “Fact Friday" & "Acaletics Wednesday” activity.​
  

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As a reminder, we now have a bus that comes into our bus loop at 7:50am. The bus loop is now closed at that time. Please make arrangements to park elsewhere during the time that the bus loop is in operation. Thank you.
  

Dear Parents using the car line,

Our morning associates and volunteers are posted in our car line. If your child can open and close the car door on their own, we encourage them to do so as this speeds things up. If your child needs assistance (in the am) opening and closing the car door; we will assist. (Or if your car door is child-proofed) ----If this is the case, please place the “Assistance Needed” sign in your car windshield so staff knows to assist your car. You can obtain this sign from the office. (It is also attached to this e mail.

Volunteers:

Our car line is very improved, yet additional assistance with the morning and afternoon car line would make things even faster. Earn service hours! Volunteers are always welcome and truly appreciated! If you are interested, you may stop by the front office any day. We would love to have you!
  

Parents,

Please be aware that safety will always be our main concern. On rainy days with lightning strikes during dismissal in the immediate area of the school we may need to alter our dismissal. Sometimes we are forced to suspend car line dismissal until it is safe. If the lightning looks like it will quickly pass we will hold the dismissal for 10-15 minutes. If the lightning storm is constant we will move all car riders into the cafeteria on the south side of the school, allowing children and staff to remain indoors out of harm’s way.

The lightning day procedure for dismissal would then be for the entire carline to remain in line and to proceed (drive) to the front (South) of the school. This would allow staff safe shelter. We would then load the cars on the south side of the school in front of the main office.  In the most extreme situation of lightning, children would only be dismissed if the parent were to walk into the office to pick up the child. We ask that you please be patient on these lightning and rainy days.
  

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are requesting donations of pre-packaged snacks to keep at school in case of any emergency.   If you would like to donate a box of individually packaged bags of pretzels, goldfish crackers, fruit-gummy snacks, etc. we would greatly appreciate it!  Please drop off the snacks in the front office.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to remind you that all volunteer/service hours are due by May 22, 2015.  Each family in the Pembroke Pines Charter School system must complete 30 hours annually in order for their child(ren) to continue enrollment.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are requesting donations of bags of red mulch.  If you would like to donate this item, please contact the front office at 954-499-4244 to coordinate a time to deliver the bag(s) to our school.  Thank you!
  

Parents picking up their child in the pm car-line are requested to write the child’s name in dark marker on the car-line windshield hanger that was given out at open house. Please write the child’s first and last name as well as the grade.This information clearly written on the car-line hanger makes things easier for staff in the carline.

Drivers are requested to circle a 2nd time in the carline if the child is not present (yet) when the car approaches the loading area.
